From the 1st to the 25th of December comes a whole range of traditions and festivities. The whole of France is decked out in the colours of Christmas. I’ll let you discover all this in this article.

The Advent calendar

To keep the children waiting until Christmas, December 1-24, they are given an Advent calendar. This is in the form of a cardboard board with 24 cut-out boxes.

Usually you can find all kinds of chocolates. The Advent calendar is very popular, so even adults have them.

Որպեսզի երեխաները սպասեն մինչև Սուրբ Ծնունդ՝ դեկտեմբերի 1-24-ը, նրանց տրվում է Գալուստի  օրացույց: Սա ստվարաթղթե տախտակի տեսքով է՝ 24 կտրված տուփերով:

Սովորաբար դուք կարող եք գտնել բոլոր տեսակի շոկոլադներ։ Գալուստի օրացույցը շատ տարածված է, ուստի նույնիսկ մեծահասակներն ունեն դրանք:

Letter to Santa Claus

Gifts given to children on Christmas Day are not chosen at random. The children write and send a letter to Santa Claus in December explaining that they have been good and giving their list of gifts they wish for Christmas. The letter is actually sent to Santa’s office and read by Santa’s elves.

 Նամակ Ձմեռ պապիկին

Սուրբ ծննդյան օրը երեխաներին տրվող նվերները պատահական չեն ընտրված։ Երեխաները դեկտեմբերին նամակ են գրում և ուղարկում Ձմեռ պապին, որտեղ բացատրում են, որ իրենք լավն են եղել և տալիս են իրենց ցանկացող նվերների ցանկը Սուրբ Ծննդի կապակցությամբ: Նամակն իրականում ուղարկվում է Ձմեռ պապի գրասենյակ և որը կարդում են Ձմեռ պապի էլֆերը:

The Christmas tree

During December, there is a decorated Christmas tree in every household in France. It is the place where the presents will be deposited by Santa Claus. Decorating the tree is a very important moment for French families.

Usually, the tree is decorated with Christmas balls of all colours, with or without light garlands, and a star is added at the top of the tree. The Christmas tree accompanies families until December 25th.

Տոնածառ

Դեկտեմբերին, Ֆրանսիայի յուրաքանչյուր ընտանիքում կա զարդարված տոնածառ։ Դա այն վայրն է, որտեղ  Ձմեռ պապը նվերներ է թողնում: Տոնածառ զարդարելը շատ կարևոր պահ է ֆրանսիական ընտանիքների համար։

Սովորաբար, տոնածառը զարդարում են բոլոր գույների ամանորյա գնդիկները՝  լույսերով կամ առանց լույսերի, իսկ տոնածառի գագաթին աստղ է ավելացվում։ Տոնածառը մնում է մինչև դեկտեմբերի 25-ը։

Christmas markets can also be seen emerging in the major cities of France. A Christmas market is,a market where you can find Christmas products: decoration, gifts, delicacies, etc. Christmas markets are very popular in France.

Սուրբ Ծննդյան տոնավաճառները կարելի է տեսնել նաև Ֆրանսիայի խոշոր քաղաքներում: Սուրբ Ծննդյան տոնավաճառը այն վայրն է, որտեղ կարելի է գտնել ամանորյա իրեր՝ զարդարանք, նվերներ, դելիկատեսներ և այլն: Ամանորյա տոնավաճառները շատ հայտնի են Ֆրանսիայում:

Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas, December 24th. It is a very important time for the family to get together for dinner and to celebrate Christmas Eve together.

What is traditionally eaten on Christmas Eve ?

As a starter, it is common to eat oysters, foie gras and smoked salmon. The traditional New Year’s Eve dish is the famous Christmas turkey. And for dessert, the very popular Christmas log.
